Schweig Is RPG Guest at Williamsburg Muster

Veteran game designer Peter Schweighofer of Griffon Publishing Studio plans on running a full slate of roleplaying games at Williamsburg Muster, a gaming convention in Williamsburg, VA, Feb. 3-5.

Here’s the tentative list of games planned for Williamsburg Muster 2012; times and other details are subject to change:

Friday 7 p.m. - Pulp Egypt, Labyrinth of Set
    (6 players, characters provided)
The heroes awake to find themselves imprisoned in a subterranean labyrinth; can they escape before their cultist captors sacrifice them to magically empower their own political movement? Pulp Egypt author and veteran game designer Peter Schweighofer runs this pulp-era scenario using the D6 System.

Saturday 2 p.m. - Star Wars D6, Sandbound on Tatooine
    (6 players, characters provided)
Your smuggling band would have escaped from those bounty hunters without any problem, except that you crash-landed in the desert wastes of Tatooine. Survive the harsh Dune Sea, avoid Imperial entanglements, and dig your ship out of the sands before the bounty hunters find you and finish the job. Join Star Wars roleplaying game writer Peter Schweighofer for this classic-era D6 System adventure.

Saturday 7 p.m. - Heroes of Rura-Tonga, Terrors from the Deep
    (6 players, characters provided)
A desperate call for aid from one of Rura-Tonga’s native villages draws the heroes to expose a conspiracy to expand Nazi influence in the South Pacific and summon an unspeakable horror from the ocean depths. Veteran game designer and Heroes of Rura-Tonga author Peter Schweighofer will use the D6 System to run this pulp-era scenario.

    Want Schweig at Your Con?

If you'd like Schweig to appear at a convention near you, read the materials below and then drop him an e-mail.

He asks conventions to take care of a few things if he's going to attend as a guest:

Hotel Expenses: At the bare minimum Schweig asks conventions to arrange and pay for hotel accommodations, preferably at the establishment hosting the con. Depending on his travel schedule, he may ask for an additional room night before or after the con. He does not ask cons to pay for his meals.

Travel: Schweig usually doesn't ask conventions to pay for his travel expenses if he's driving. Living in Virginia he's easily a few hours' drive from most locations in the mid-Atlantic states. Beyond that, however, he prefers to fly. Schweig realizes this can be a burden on some con budgets, but it's an equally heavy burden for him (and he doesn't usually make money from attending a con).

Dealers Room Table: This is a secondary concern that helps tempt Schweig to make a con a priority. Assuming your con has a dealers room, he sometimes ask for a complimentary table, with a commitment to purchase a second table at full price. If he only needs one table, or you can only spare one table, he'll pay half for it. This condition depends if he has any gaming stuff to sell, if his wife comes along to sell her "Soft Chance Creations" goodies (handmade puffy dice, "geek shorts," and dice bags), and if he's driving or flying.

What Do You Get? Schweig's typical convention agenda consists primarily of running roleplaying games he's had some hand in (including D6, Weird Wars, and D6 Star Wars) and roleplaying, board, and card games he's designed or is currently developing. Schweig also speaks on panels for which he's qualified (mostly gaming and Star Wars, writing, editing, and publishing, but others as well), and gives presentations on using music and handouts in roleplaying games. Of course, mingling with con-goers is always a priority.

    Still interested? E-mail  Schweig!

Past conventions he's attended include MACE and Stellarcon in High Point, NC, MarsCon in Williamsburg, VA, ConCarolinas in Charlotte, NC, and Ubercon in New Jersey.

"This is called a Griffin because it is a winged quadruped. This kind of wild animal is born in Hyperborean parts, or in mountains. All its bodily members are like a lion's, but its wings and mask are like an eagle's. It is vehemently hostile to horses. But it will also tear to pieces any human beings which it happens to come across."
